Resolve Your Calhoun County Traffic Ticket
Without Going to the Courthouse

Calhoun County District Court now allows traffic ticket recipients to go online to seek driving school, pay a fine, offer proof of insurance or repair, or even request a virtual hearing or trial..

Under the new program, called Online Ticket Resolution or “OTR”, one who receives a traffic ticket can go online through a computer or smartphone to https://traffic.alacourt.gov/ or scan the provided barcode to see options that, until now, would have required an appearance at the courthouse.

***VIRTUAL HEARINGS ARE NOT AN OPTION***

Driving School: Must be requested. DRIVING SCHOOL IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR FIRST TIME OFFENDERS. If Judge grants Driving School, the Defendant is to visit WWW.ETADATADIRECT.COM/DRIVE to complete the online school. Once driving school has been completed, the Defendant must submit the completion certificate to the Court by email to amanda.tidwell@alacourt.gov. The Judge will then issue an Order dismissing the case WITH NO COSTS.

Calhoun County Circuit Clerk Kim McCarson stated, “We are so excited to offer this new and convenient service to the citizens of our county. The OTR program will save so much time. You now can resolve many traffic tickets right from your smartphone or computer.”

The service is available for people who receive a ticket in Calhoun County from a state trooper or a sheriff’s deputy. It does not apply to municipal tickets issued by city police officers. Troopers and deputies will be giving ticket recipients a yellow card with instructions of how to go online to resolve their ticket. OTR is not available for all traffic tickets because some, such as driving while suspended and DUI, require a court appearance.

Please call 256-231-1850 if you have any questions.
